GHTFA Announcements

Larry Hodgson

It is with the deepest of regret to inform those of you who are not already aware, of the passing of our dear friend Larry Hodgson

Larry faced numerous health issues (with an incredible positive attitude) over the last 4 years, and eventually succumbed to his battle with cancer. Larry was a 30 year touch football player, who was inducted in into the Golden Horseshoe Touch Football Association (GHTFA) “ Hall of Fame “ in 2002.

Let it be said though, that Larry wasn’t just a great player, and an ambassador of the sport…more importantly, he was a “Hall of Fame Person”. He was a friend to all that met him, and will be sadly missed.

Visitation & Funeral  held @ Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue, Stoney Creek

The GHTFA will be honouring Larry’s memory in a number of ways, including having one of our League Champions to receive the Larry Hodgson Trophy each year.

We will also will be creating the “Larry Hodgson Memorial Golf Tournament” with all proceeds going toCity Kidz”…an organization Larry volunteered countless hours to over the past couple years, despite his declining health.  City Kidz, and the under privileged youth in Hamilton were the benefactors of his desire to “give back” to his community. That’s the kind of person Larry was, and he was truly passionate about the City Kidz program.

While detail’s, including a date etc. are yet to be determined for the golf tournament, please respond to me if you wish to…

  • Donate prizes for the event
  • Be involved with the organizing committee
  •  Further details will be circulated in the near future …please spread the word
My thoughts go out to Larry’s family, and all those that loved him…that pretty much includes all of us.
